Music and Reflection on the Balfour Declaration

The following two events are being organised to mark the 100th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration of November 2nd 1917. This was a letter from the British Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour to Lord Rothschild – a leading member of the Jewish community which expressed support for the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people.

The event is to raise awareness of the legacy of this declaration for present day Palestine.

The programme is as follows:

A number of Ayrshire based folk musicians will be performing at the concert.

A short film on the legacy of the Balfour Declaration .

There will also be a short speech from Wael Shawish – a well known Scottish based Palestinian activist.

Admission £5 waged and £3 unwaged pay at the door .

Funds raised will go to the charity Defence for Children International Palestine which works to protect the human rights of Palestinian children.
